About Me
I’m a software engineer who enjoys building reliable, user-focused applications and working across the stack to turn ideas into shipped features. I’m especially interested in problems that sit at the intersection of frontend experience, backend logic, and system design.
Recently, I’ve been working on TutorsTap, a mentorship platform that connects learners with industry professionals. My work spans frontend development, backend APIs, cloud infrastructure, and automated testing, with a strong focus on building features that are maintainable, scalable, and grounded in real user needs.
I also contribute to open-source projects such as WeVote and FreeCodeCamp, where I collaborate with distributed teams to improve UI behavior, accessibility, and application reliability. I value clear communication, thoughtful code reviews, and learning from real-world production systems.
Outside of engineering, I’ve held leadership and coordination roles that involved supporting teams, organizing work, and creating environments where people can do their best work. I bring that same sense of ownership and accountability into my engineering work.
I’m always looking to grow as an engineer and take on meaningful challenges, whether that’s improving an existing system, contributing to open source, or building new products from the ground up.
Experience
Software Engineer·TutorsTap
Worked on a full-stack mentorship platform connecting learners with industry tutors. Built and maintained features across frontend and backend, including onboarding, tutor discovery, session booking, payments, messaging, and community discussions. Owned the community module end to end, implementing posting, voting, reporting, and event-driven moderation workflows. Collaborated with a small cross-functional team and introduced automated testing to reduce manual QA and improve confidence as the platform scaled.
Volunteer Software Engineer·WeVote
Contributed to an open-source civic engagement platform with a focus on frontend development. Implemented UI improvements, accessibility fixes, and API-related bug fixes. Built a custom React tooltip with device-specific interaction behavior for desktop and mobile. Debugged state management issues affecting UI consistency and collaborated closely with maintainers through code reviews and issue discussions.
Volunteer Software Engineer·Eli Software
Contributed to the development of an educational game designed to help children learn math through interactive gameplay. Worked within a collaborative game development team and implemented the scoring system, translating game rules and puzzle outcomes into clear, consistent scoring logic. Focused on integrating gameplay mechanics with learning objectives while maintaining code clarity and reliability.
Graduate Assistant·22 West Media
Worked part-time as a graduate assistant overseeing three student-led teams across radio, video production, and magazine operations. Supported and coordinated a group of approximately 30 student employees by tracking hours, conducting weekly check-ins and planning meetings, and maintaining team morale. Organized recognition events to highlight student contributions and helped plan and attend outreach events to promote the organization and recruit new members.
Software Engineer·Tops Technologies
Worked as a software engineer on a microservices-based backend system. Implemented and integrated core services using Java and Spring Boot, with asynchronous communication through Kafka. Contributed to service discovery and routing using Netflix Eureka and Spring Cloud Gateway. Designed and integrated relational databases to support product, inventory, and order workflows, focusing on reliability, scalability, and clean service boundaries.
